Educating Students Who Shape The Future

Library Media Center

The Library Media Center houses about 15,000 books, including video  tapes, CDs, audio-books, audio-visual equipment, (TVs, VCRs, tape recorders, filmstrip projectors, CD players) all cataloged and accessible for group and individual instruction.  Open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, 105 students can be accommodated.  The Library Media Center subscribes to 65 periodicals and newspapers.  Back copies of all magazines, which are indexed in the Reader’s Guide to Periodical Literature, are stored in our workroom for student use.  The Book collection is fully automated.  The Library Media Center is on a network system that includes six computer workstations with the on-line public access catalog, First Search, Ebscohost, and Lewis and Clark Library System interlibrary loan. A Library Management System is set up at the Main Desk providing for fast and accurate circulation of the collection as well as statistical reports. Lists of new acquisitions are published quarterly to acquaint faculty and students with our new books, videos and all types of media.  We have one full time Media Specialist, a full time Assistant Librarian and Student Aides assist in the operation of the CHS Library Media Center which is a member of the American Library Association and the American Association of School Libraries.
