The Library Media Center houses about
15,000 books, including video tapes,
CDs, audio-books, audio-visual equipment, (TVs, VCRs, tape recorders,
filmstrip projectors, CD players) all cataloged and
accessible for group and individual instruction.
Open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, 105 students can be
accommodated. The
Library Media Center subscribes to 65 periodicals and newspapers.
Back copies of all magazines, which are indexed in the Reader’s
Guide to Periodical Literature, are stored in our workroom for
student use. The Book
collection is fully automated.
The Library Media Center is on a network system that includes
six computer workstations with the on-line public access catalog,
First Search, Ebscohost, and Lewis and Clark Library System
interlibrary loan. A Library Management System is
set up at the Main Desk providing for fast and accurate circulation
of the collection as well as statistical reports. Lists of new
acquisitions are published quarterly to acquaint faculty and
students with our new books, videos and all types of media.
We have one full time Media Specialist, a full time Assistant
Librarian and Student Aides assist in the operation of the CHS Library Media Center which is a member of the American
Library Association and the American Association of School
Libraries.
LOANS
-Students may check out books for four weeks.
-Students must return overdue books before checking out more
books.
-Staff members may check out books for four weeks.
-Reference materials are to be used in the Media Center unless
marked
otherwise.
-Magazines and newspapers are available in the Media Center
and must
be checked out.
-Audiovisual materials may be used in the Media Center for
research
by students and may be checked out by staff members.
-Please check with media staff for interlibrary loans.
LOST/DAMAGED BOOKS
Students must pay replacement costs for lost library books.
